SS Backsplash
Indigo-Glass Art Backsplash with Brushed Aluminum Logo

The Process
The process for this second backsplash was more thought-out due to three years of improving the glass art process since the first install in Concord. We linked up with Casco Signs of Concord NC to assist in fabrication and installation. The glass panels were made at the Imaginarium and delivered to Casco where they created the cabinet that held the panels, center logo, and perimeter and center and lights.

The Meaning
It all started in Concord at Southern Strain’s original location when Ford Craven asked if I could make something out of the blue glass that came from the old textile warehouse that houses Southern Strain.
This backsplash in Concord gave birth to the second backsplash designed for Southern Strain’s second location on Central Ave in Plaza Midwood, Charlotte, NC.

How the “SS Backsplash” was made:

Site walk, collecting measurments, and design brainstorm

Picking up acrylic cutouts to from Casco Signs

After a mold is installed around the acrylic cutout, blue glass is added

The panels are removed from the mold and edges are grinded smooth

Casco’s double-brushed water-jet aluminum Southern Strain hop and helix logo
