A walking tour of 63 multi-century homes along historic North & South Union Street.
What it is
To celebrate Downtown Concord’s cultural history and origins, the CLWT illuminates fifty-nine homes, twenty along North Union and thirty-six along South Union, each with their own colorful light display.
Each participating home will display a yard sign with a QR Code for folks to access the digital tour guide. Within the guide are new and historic photos, architectual details and even some history on each home on the tour. Printed guides are also available within local business like Press & Porter (closes at 7), Cabo Winery, MacTabby Cat Cafe, Union Street Market and Budget Blinds.
Colorful Lights Historic Concord Walking Tour
Concord’s most colorful of all its community events
Downtown Concord has a rich history as the birthplace of the original gold rush and a booming hub for the textile industry of the south. The area is littered with historic mills that once buzzed with fabric production. Downtown itself preserves buildings that were built in the late 19th century and early 20th century and is the center of Concord’s origins.
Downtown Concord is home to three centuries of homes located in the historic district of North and South Union Streets. These homes have dazzling histories and are being preserved by dedicated homeowners that share a passion for historic homes.
By celebrating this history, we pay homage to the folks that built our town and learn from its trials and tribulations. We bring to light the importance of historical preservation and share the stories of the past of the structures that still stand today. We also connect with our community in an organic way to water the roots that sprouted our growing city.
